Occupational Therapy
At NINH, we provide compassionate, evidence-based occupational therapy services designed to support individuals at every stage of life—from early childhood to older adulthood. Our experienced therapists specialize in helping children build foundational skills for growth and independence, guiding teens and adults through life transitions, and promoting safety, mobility, and quality of life for seniors.
We tailor each treatment plan to the unique needs, goals, and strengths of our clients, whether it's enhancing developmental milestones in children, improving daily function after injury or illness, or maintaining independence in aging adults.
Our services include:
- Pediatric therapy for developmental delays, sensory processing, fine motor skills, and more
- Support for teens and adults with neurological, physical, or cognitive challenges
- Geriatric care focused on fall prevention, memory support, and adaptive strategies for daily living
Occupational therapy is an essential part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team, working closely with a range of professionals to provide holistic, coordinated care.
Our therapists actively collaborate with physicians, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, psychologists, nurses, social workers, educators, and caregivers to ensure each client receives comprehensive support tailored to their unique goals and challenges.
By sharing insights and aligning treatment plans across disciplines, we help address not just the physical aspects of a condition, but also the cognitive, emotional, and environmental factors that affect daily life. This team-based approach enhances outcomes, reduces gaps in care, and promotes overall well-being.
Whether it’s coordinating with a pediatrician to support a child’s development, working alongside physical therapy after surgery, or contributing to a senior’s care plan in a rehab or home health setting, our goal is seamless, patient-centered support every step of the way.
No matter your age or stage of life, our mission is to empower you to live with confidence, purpose, and greater independence.
Emergency Department Diversion Program
NINH has a history working with families within the communities that they live in. As such, and in an effort to meet clients where they are at, the Emergency Department Diversion program was developed. This is a unique program with goals to support the mental health and access to resources for families and individuals who are awaiting admission in emergency department settings, discharging from a hospitalization, or returning home after a placement.
Families involved in programming receive 14 consecutive days of service with NINH providers meeting identified clients and/or families in the home or local community. Work in these sessions consists of:
Supporting coping and grounding skill use as the client transitions home
Identifying unique family and individual needs
Developing safety plans and skills for managing emotional and behavioral challenges
Connection to local community resources to sustain progress and continue goal achievement
Work with existing providers and specialists to coordinate strong continuity of care
Qualifications for programming include:
Client is experiencing symptoms of mental illness that they and their family are struggling to manage
Client is free of active suicidality and homicidality
Client and family are willing to participate in programming
Client is able to safely return home with existing supports
Client holds a primary insurance that covers programming or is agreeable to a self-pay model
Providers are skilled in the administration of various therapeutic modalities that include, CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), EMDR ATIP assessment, Play Therapy, and Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS). Providers are trained, educated, and supervised by NINH licensed professionals.
Given the unique nature of programming, insurance coverage is based on individual contracts separate from traditional credentialing. Emergency Department Diversion programming is not recognized by all insurances and as such is currently covered by the following providers:
Amerihealth Caritas NH New Hampshire Healthy Families Wellsense/Carelon Anthem of NH, CA, GA, ME, VA, CO, IN, MO, NY, WI, CT, KY, NV, and OH
Other Anthem plans may cover services. If you have questions about coverage, NINH is able to communicate with your insurance in advance to determine if services will be covered. Referrals are required and may be sent in by hospitals, residential facilities, mental health and medical providers, or other service providers working with families and individuals. Services are available to Youth of all ages and adults covered under a guardian’s insurance through age 26 as well as adults of all ages for Amerihealth and Anthem clients whose insurance covers services.

Speech Therapy
At our practice, speech therapy services are available for individuals across the lifespan—from toddlers to older adults—addressing a wide range of communication and swallowing needs. Areas of assessment and treatment include receptive and expressive language, speech sound production, voice and resonance, and social and play skills. We also support individuals with reading challenges, oral-motor difficulties, and feeding and swallowing disorders. Therapy may focus on foundational skills such as following directions and naming objects or more advanced areas like reasoning, memory, and executive functioning. Each treatment plan is personalized, functional, and grounded in evidence-based practices to support meaningful growth in daily communication and cognitive abilities.
In addition to spoken language, speech therapy also fosters the development of early literacy skills and written expression. These skills are essential for academic success and include phonological awareness, letter-sound correspondence, decoding, and reading comprehension. For school-aged children, therapy may address written language elements such as grammar, sentence structure, idea generation, and organizing thoughts in writing. Speech-language pathologists play a vital role in identifying and supporting children who struggle with literacy, offering targeted interventions that help them become confident and effective communicators—both verbally and in print.
Our therapists value a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach to care. Because communication and swallowing are influenced by multiple factors, we believe in treating the whole person, not just isolated symptoms. We regularly partner with professionals such as audiologists, occupational and physical therapists, ENTs, neurologists, clinical psychologists, registered dietitians, and specialized speech-language pathologists to ensure comprehensive, well-rounded support. When appropriate, we provide referrals and maintain open communication with other providers. By working together with families and allied professionals, we aim to help each client reach their fullest potential across all settings.
