Learning Together

Seminars

NINH offers a variety of seminars to companies and members of the community. Training sessions can be provided via Zoom, on-site at your location, or at our office. Please contact us for cost and further information on any of the below subjects. If you are interested in other subjects, please let us know.

  • Sensory Processing Disorders

The Sensory Processing Disorder seminar will focus on identifying difficulties resulting from differences in the processing of sensory stimuli. The three power systems (Touch, Vestibular, and Proprioceptive) will be examined, as well as the processing of visual, auditory, olfactory, and gustatory stimuli. Participants will learn to identify states of hyper- and hypo-arousal, as well as the techniques to assist in sensory modulation.

Three hours in a one day session.

  • Developmental Disorders

The Developmental Disorders seminar will examine the neuropsychological sequelae of such disorders as Autism Spectrum Disorder, Nonverbal Learning Disorder, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorders, Learning Disorders, and ADHD. Participants will discover the neurological underpinnings of these disorders and develop an understanding of the diagnostic criteria.

Eight hours in a one day session.

  • Brain Plasticity

The Brain Plasticity seminar includes an overview of brain development, including the impact of genetic and environmental factors. Participants will then discover the brain’s ability to recover from insult occurring in childhood and adulthood.

Three hours in a one day session.

  • ADHD

The ADHD seminar reviews the metamorphosis of the diagnostic criteria and examines various assessment tools. Participants will develop an understanding of the many co-occurring diagnoses and treatment modalities.

Four hours in a one day session.

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder

The Autism Spectrum Disorder seminar examines diagnostic transformations through the DSMs. Participants will gather knowledge related to the genetic and environmental factors impacting the presentation of ASD. Additionally, various treatment modalities will be explored and evaluated.

Four hours in a one day session.

  • Complex Developmental Trauma

Complex Developmental Trauma results from repeated exposure to abusive or neglectful circumstances. This seminar examines the alterations in brain development resulting from trauma, as well as the impact on learning and social functioning.

Four hours in a one day session.

  • Integrative Health

Integrative health care often brings conventional and complementary approaches together in a coordinated way. It emphasizes a holistic, patient-focused approach to health care and wellness—often including mental, emotional, functional, spiritual, social, and community aspects—and treating the whole person rather than, for example, one organ system. This seminar provides an overview of conventional and complementary approaches, and explores the patient- and community-centered models for implementation.

Four hours in a one day session.

  • Trust Based Relational Intervention

TBRI® is an attachment-based, trauma-informed intervention that is designed to meet the complex needs of vulnerable children. TBRI® uses Empowering Principles to address physical needs, Connecting Principles for attachment needs, and Correcting Principles to disarm fear-based behaviors. While the intervention is based on years of attachment, sensory processing, and neuroscience research, the heartbeat of TBRI® is connection. Participants will learn and apply each of the principles of TBRI®.

Spans four days with six hours of sessions each day.

  • Neuropsychological Assessment

The Neuropsychological Assessment seminar presents the process-oriented approach in conducting neuropsychological evaluations in children, adolescents, and adults. With an emphasis on observational skills, participants will learn to identify individual strengths and differences in the areas of sensory processing, cognitive functioning, memory and learning, attention and executive functioning, as well as social/emotional functioning.

Eight hours in a one day session.

Research Initiatives

NINH is actively looking for individuals interested in participating in our ongoing research studies to investigate the effectiveness of Neurofeedback therapy for many psychological conditions and links between brain functioning and certain traumatic life events.

  • Neuropsychological Profiles of Individuals with Chromosomal Abnormalities

    “Participants for this study must:

    • Be diagnosed with a chromosomal abnormality
    • Have a willingness to participate in a full neuropsychological assessment and qEEG

All ages are encouraged to apply. Minor participants must receive parental consent to participate. If you are interested in learning more about our research or finding out if you qualify to participate please e-mail us at info@ninhllc.com

Education Opportunities

  • Internships

    Internships

NINH strives to build the local communities in several ways. One of those is by educating new practitioners and providers on their professional journeys. On site practicum and internships opportunities exist for students in various mental health fields including:

    • Undergraduate Psychology
    • Graduate Psychology
    • Clinical Mental Health Counseling
    • Neuropsychology
Clinical Psychology
    • Psychiatric Mental Health
    • Nurse Practitioner
Occupational Therapy
    •  Speech Therapy

Practicum and internship placements occur on a rolling basis and entry into our program can occur at any time that aligns with appropriate course work and expectations of the educational facility. Interns will learn key skills within their field, how to execute them in real practice, and understand how their field intersects with those represented within and in relation to services provided at NINH. Students interested in being considered for programming with NINH are encouraged to e-mail a resume and cover letter detailing their interest in working with NINH, school practicum/internship requirements, preferred schedules, and what they hope to experience in their internship. These can be sent to Carly Snodgrass at, csnodgrass@ninhllc.com.

  • Student Experiences

Undergraduate students can expect to engage within the neuropsychological testing, occupational therapy, administrative, and, if appropriate based on the expectations of your institution, community-based departments. NINH works to ensure that students at the undergraduate level have opportunities to experience roles that they are able to obtain employment in upon completion of their educational programming. Additionally, exploration of potential career paths further education may offer may be offered when ethical and appropriate observation opportunities present.

Graduate students can expect to engage with all departments of NINH. Depending on the major of study, experiences may include observing/co-treating/providing supervised outpatient therapy, observing and learning to administer qEEG and neurofeedback treatment, observing and administering neuropsychological testing under supervision, collaborating with professionals in your field of study, collaborating with professionals in adjacent areas of study, administrative tasks, managing a schedule, and working with insurances.

Doctoral and nursing students can expect to work directly with our neuropsychologist to achieve pre- and post-doctoral and other program needs. Salaries are commensurate on experience and specialty and are negotiated prior to the onset of programming, where applicable.

All interns will receive diagnostic, licensing, supervision, and collaborative experiences consistent with their educational achievements and expected career outcomes. Contractual agreements between NINH and educational institutions may be required for students to receive appropriate credit. Please be sure to reach out with ample time to ensure all required contracting, training, and paperwork are completed in time for anticipated program starts.

All students are also required to submit background checks and maintain individual liability insurance while working with NINH.
